Nagaland as we see it today, the given current state events, massacres, feuds between factions and tribes are glaring ugly realities of our nation. We call our state a Christian state and yet we are deeply steeped in corruption and all its evils. The pursuit of pleasure and happiness seems dominant in the minds of most people today. The deep sense of insecurity ,the prominence of corruption,nepotism,moral laxity, drugs and orgies, pushing for secularism rather than Christianity indicate just how far our society has strayed from God.So,what is happening to our nation today? What is the cause of our insecurities? Pessimistic as it may sound, a look at our society will reveal how far behind we are as Christians and things don’t seem to get any better.So,is there hope for things to get better? Can we save our nation from God’s wrath through good deeds and tithing? The book of Genesis 18:16-33 talks of Abraham bargaining with God to save Sodom from His wrath. However, he could not fulfill his part of the bargain. So, can Nagas save their nation through bargaining with God?
Bargaining with God is not the answer. The solution to all these lie in turning to the magnificent Word of living God in 2 Chronicles 7:14 “IF my people which are called by my name shall humble themselves and pray and seek my face ,and turn from their wicked ways ,then will I hear from Heaven and will forgive their sins and will heal their land”.
The Lord calls us “my people” and I believe that it is to us Nagas this Scripture speaks. He desires that we humble ourselves and pray, and seek His face and turn from our wicked ways and the only way in which our society can be saved from complete depravity and self-destruction is to turn back to God. It is time we shun our evil ways and turn back to our Maker. Granted, His people sometimes have wicked ways and perhaps are not aware of it. I believe that our failures are also ways of bringing us closer to Him, to realize His presence in our lives and building our character so that we start afresh with Him in our lives. He encourages all to search our hearts and seek Him. All it takes is reverential fear for our Lord, humility and a simple prayer of repentance. Let us look to Him in earnest prayer and supplication for the answer to our problems. God alone is the source of a satisfying and worthwhile life and when we come to Him with real repentance acknowledging our need of forgiveness and submitting to Him as our savior and Lord, He will hear and will answer our cries and prayers .God can change the course that any people are on .He did it over and over for His people of the bible.try it! What do you have to lose? God Himself says, “Try me and prove me”. He wants His people to ask Him for help. He wants to answer our prayers and heal our nation .God bless us all.
