Wins for Trinity, Case FC, Nizam’s FC and Natak FC
DIMAPUR, SEPTEMBER 23 (MExN): The first match of the 4th season of case premier League started in the scorching sun between 3 times champions Trinity FC and Joga Bonito at 1st NAP ground and Case FC vs Ruboo United at DGP ground, Chumukedima.
Trinity defeated Joga Bonito 3-0. The match started evenly with both teams trying to assert their dominance in midfield. Joga Bonito created a couple of clear chances in the first half but could not convert any of their chances.
Soon after the break trinity earned a penalty after the ball rolled off the arm of the opposition defender as he tried to head it out. The penalty was converted by the Trinity FC striker. The match thereafter opened up more as Joga Bonito pressed for the equalizer. Trinity looked dangerous on the break. Trinity increased their tally via a corner which looped directly into the back post as there was confusion betweenthe oppositiongoalkeeper and the defenders. Joga Bonito attacked but could not convert any oftheir chances. The 3rd goal from trinity came following a quick counter at the end of the game.
Meanwhile, Case FC thrashed Ruboo United 4 – 1. CASE FC opened their scoring account with Aliba drawing first blood with a long range effort in the 4th minute. Tongtong added with a superb shot in the 9th minute while midfielder Gaibi added another in the 42nd minute to make it 3-0. A reckless tackle inside the D-box rendered CASE FC yet another opportunity which Temsu converted sending the keeper the wrong way. The lone goal from Ruboo United came from a penalty which was taken by Moatemjen.
Last season runners up Nizams FC began campaign with a win over Sporting Union FC. Nahing opened the score with a towering header giving the keeper no chance. Sporting union kept losing the ball in midfield and the tireless efforts of Nizam's saw them go two up with a close range effort from Seyie.
After halftime with continuous pouring down of rain, the field was almost unplayable and both teams struggled to take the ball into the opposition half. Despite the best efforts of Sporting Union they could not claw their way back into the match and the game ended 2-0 in favour of Nizam's FC.
Meanwhile, Natak FC edged Super Strikers 1 – 0 in what was a slugfest as both teams struggled to find their footing amidst heavy downpour. The solitary goal came from the boots of Natak striker Pokhotso in the 22nd minute, cutting in with a fine chop from the left as he edged past the keeper in a one-on-one situation. Playmaker Rohit and Pothotso continued the offensive but some resolute defending from the Super Strikers defense and keeper denied their efforts. With the rains wreaking havoc, multiple attempts made from the Super Strikers attackers were thwarted as the Natak goalie exhibited his prowess in the goal area.
