Christians across Nagaland today observed Palm Sunday by organizing special service in their respective churches.
Palm Sunday is observed by Christians to commemorate Jesus Christ’s entry into Jerusalem before he was arrested and crucified.
Joining others, Chakhesang Baptist Church Kohima (CBCK) observed ‘Palm Sunday’ at its church premises.
Rev. Vikuo Rhi spoke on “The Triumph Entry” in the morning worship service.
He talked on the triumphant entry of Jesus into Jerusalem.
“It was a fulfillment of Old Testament prophecy - Zachariah 9:9, where a king would enter Jerusalem riding a donkey, symbolising peace and humanity rather than war,” he said.
Jesus came not to destroy; but to love, not to condemn, but to help; not in the might of arms, but in the strength of love, Rev. Dr. Rhi said.
Later, Kethovino Rhakho spoke at the evening worship service on the topic “The Agony in Gethsemane.”
Rothihii Tetseo and Vezohii Tiinyi led the morning and evening worship service respectively.
