Centre assures release of pending Scholarship by March 31: Nagaland Higher Education Department

New Delhi, March 26 (MExN): The Union Ministry of Tribal Affairs has reassured that the pending final instalment of the Post Matric Scholarship for Scheduled Tribe (ST) students of Nagaland will be released by March 31, the State Higher Education Department informed.

The pending amount of Rs 1274.01 lakh pertains to the 2023-24 academic year.

According to a press release from the PRO, Nagaland House, New Delhi, the reassurance was given by ministry officials during a follow-up exercise after Union Minister for Tribal Affairs, Jual Oram, assured Nagaland’s Minister for Higher Education and Tourism, Temjen Imna Along, that the pending amount would be released. The assurance was made during a meeting on March 24 in New Delhi.

Following the meeting, the Nodal Officer of the Post Matric Scholarship held discussions with officials from the Union Ministry of Tribal Affairs to expedite the process, it stated.

The Higher Education Department further informed that officials from the Union Ministry of Tribal Affairs have confirmed that the final instalment has been cleared for release and is currently with the Finance Ministry.

The amount is expected to be disbursed to the State Government on or before March 31, it added.
