Kohima, August 2 (MExN): The Chakhesang Cultural Research Institute (CCRI) on August 2 launched a raffle draw campaign to raise funds for procuring a permanent plot of land for the institute at the residence of Advisor for Civil Administration Works Department (CAWD) and MLA Kudecho Khamo in Kohima.
The programme was led by CCRI Managing Director Mesusayi Tetseo, while Finance Committee Convenor Vahine Thisa presented a brief report on the land procurement project.
A dedicatory prayer for the raffle draw ticket sale was offered by Rev. Neikko Mero, Senior Pastor of KCBCK, before Khamo formally launched the raffle draw ticket campaign.
Addressing the gathering, the organisers appealed to members of the Chakhesang community to support the initiative by purchasing raffle draw tickets to help realise the institute's long-standing goal of acquiring a permanent site.
According to the organisers, the CCRI was established in 1993 with its headquarters at Chetheba to preserve and promote the rich cultural heritage, customs and traditional values of the Chakhesang people.
To achieve its objective of securing a permanent plot of land, the institute, in collaboration with its parent body, the Chakhesang Cultural Organisation (CCO), has initiated the raffle draw as a community-driven fundraising effort.
The institute appealed to members of the Chakhesang community to contribute according to their means, stating that every ticket purchased would support efforts to preserve and promote the community's cultural identity.
The organisers said the initiative symbolises unity, collective responsibility and progress, while encouraging younger generations to cherish and carry forward the legacy and heritage of their forefathers alongside the changing world.
