DMC Councillor from Ward No. 5, Kuhoi Zhimo, initiated a drain cleanliness drive in key areas of the ward.
Dimapur, March 25 (MExN): With the monsoon season fast approaching and the recurring hazard of water logging in Dimapur town, the Dimapur Municipal Council (DMC) Councillor from Ward No. 5, Kuhoi Zhimo, initiated a drain cleanliness drive in key areas of the ward.
The two-day drive, conducted on March 24 and 25, covered the Namghar School area, Police Colony, Namgalong Colony, and culminated in Bank Colony, stated a press release received here.
The initiative was taken as a proactive measure to prevent the perennial problem of clogged drains, which causes severe water logging and inconvenience to residents every year. Over the course of the drive, all major drains in the aforementioned colonies were cleaned to ensure better drainage during the monsoon, it stated.
Speaking on the initiative, Councillor Kuhoi Zhimo stated, “Every year, residents suffer due to water logging caused by clogged drains. This cleanliness drive is an effort to address the issue before the rains arrive. I deeply appreciate the support of the colony councils and DMC for making this drive successful.”
The Ward Councillor extended his gratitude to all the colony councils for their participation and thanked the DMC for providing the necessary labor force to execute the cleaning drive efficiently.
