In order to resolve the political crisis in Manipur, Meghalaya Chief Minister Conrad Sangma who is also the president of National People’s Party (NPP) and Himanta Biswa Sarma who is the Health Minister of Assam and BJP leader have arrived in Imphal on Sunday. Both of them arrived in Imphal around 1 pm on the same flight. Sources said Himanta Biswa Sarma has started lobbying for support to the BJP led government in Manipur. The sources however did not specifically inform the programmes of the Assam Health Minister in Imphal. Sarma is also the convenor of the North-East Democratic Alliance (NEDA).

Regarding Conrard Sangma, sources said that the NPP president might have met NPP legislators in the afternoon. Till the time of filing this report, both Sangma and Sarma were trying their best to settle the differences between the two party units in the State.

Meanwhile, the Congress party continues to demand the Governor to convene a special assembly session and then said that the Biren Singh government should be asked to prove its majority. Congress leader and former Chief Minister Okram Ibobi has said that the Biren Singh led government has been reduced to a minority after NPP withdrew support to the government.
