Creating an identity for the NCYM

Dimapur, March 25 (MExN): A two day leadership training programme was organized by the Nagaland Catholic Youth Movement (NCYM), at Holy Cross Parish Hall, from March 18 to 19, 2011, with the theme, ‘Transformed by faith- Transforming the world’.
The said program was animated for 61 catholic youths of Holy Cross Parish, Dimapur with youths hailing from Dimapur town, Samaguri, Singrijan and Chekiye village. Teisove Gerard Meyase, President, Nagaland Catholic Youth Movement (NCYM), spoke on the importance of having an identity and stressed on the need to create an identity for the NCYM unit in the parish. The youths decided to start with creating an identity for the parish unit, where ‘spirituality can be one of the distinctiveness.’ Basing on this they came up with a structure for the Movement.   Rev. Fr. C. P. Anto, Director, (NCYM), in his message to the youths encouraged them to be model Christian leaders. He urged the youths to be firmly rooted in their faith, and transform the world. He also stressed on the importance of youth gathering and action plans they can decide on, and implement it. The focus group training and Jesus model of Youth ministry was the centre theme of his talk. Robert Solo, former NCYM President, shared his testimony with the youths, and urged them to take a stand for a better and transformed life. He said, ‘God does not call the qualified. He qualifies the called’. Stressing on this he encouraged the members to be confident and give their best in serving God.
The youths also decided to gather every Sunday for the youth service and to follow certain steps. It will be an important mission for all to strengthen the church and encourage the youth to live a true Christian life. The topics in the sessions includes Leadership, Qualities of a catholic youth, changes and challenges of youth today, uniqueness of catholic belief and sacraments, church history, identity of the Nagaland Catholic Youth Movement, Eucharistic celebrations. Albert, the parish youth president welcomed the gathering and Ms. Theresa proposed vote of thanks.
