One more COVID-19 case was reported in Manipur on Friday after a 22-year-old man was tested positive, taking the total number of COVID-19 cases in Manipur to 26 including two recovered cases.
An official source said on Friday that the man with symptom of stuffy nose was tested last night at VRDL of RIMS in Imphal and confirmed for COVID-19 case.

He was among a group of stranded people who returned to Manipur from Delhi by road recently. He has been admitted at the COVID care facility of RIMS hospital. His condition is stable, said a hospital source.

Another government source said that following the detection of the positive case on Friday, all necessary control measures like containment and contact tracing were taken up.

The first COVID-19 case was reported in Manipur on March 24 when a 23-yr-old woman who returned to the state from the United Kingdom tested positive for the disease.

Much later, with the Centre allowing movement of stranded people during the Lockdown 3.0 and the arrival of large numbers of stranded people in the state by trains, buses and private vehicles, more positive cases have been detected from the returnees.

As all the positive cases of COVID-19 in Manipur are people who returned from different parts of the country or abroad, there is no cluster transmission of the pandemic in the state, officials of the Health department said.

Meanwhile, the COVID-19 Common Control Room of the Manipur government requested the public not panic but to protect themselves by adopting social distancing, hand washing using soap or sanitizer and wearing mask.
