“Dimapur Crying: People Prayed to stop rain”

Water is vital to life. No animal or plant life can exist without it. The land will not yield without supply of adequate water. Yet the same water causes havoc and becomes a terror in the form of floods when the rivers overflow their banks due to excessive rains in their catchment areas. In India almost every year floods are common in one part of the country or the other. During rainy season our rivers are swollen and cause disastrous floods which cause heavy destruction to life and property.
There was one thing different about this year's monsoon in India. As in so many seasons past, the annual rains began in June. Nagaland has got the highest rainfall compare to last year , it was yesterday the 16th of June 2011 where  Dimapur  was   getting rained and it will rain as per the forecast weather reports  , but who can predicts  that rain becomes problem for all  making people to moved from one place to another living all the belongings apart from them .
As per the reports many place like Dhobinalla, Westyard Colonies, Railways colonies, Mao colony, Walford area, Riverbelt Colony, Popular Bakery neighbouring areas etc  was  been hit hard by flood. Some flocks of people were found sleeping in the road side along with families and some were busy in catching fish in the flooded areas.
Interacting with few people one elderly women said “I prayed to God not to rain again” cause I have lost many things in floating water. Some other said that  it was us  who make disaster, cause the drainage system has became smaller to smaller, where many houses were  been erected in drain  areas.
The Narrow  pathway from  Popular Bakery  towards to  Nepali Basti area is in danger position where heavy rainfall can make slide  to the  road  and  the  Denizens who were staying in that areas had faced a lot of hardship during  floods time .
Some schools like Holy cross Higher Secondary  & Christ School  Dimapur , were given holiday to lower sections  cause of the heavy floods  were the water went inside the  classroom , this is  what were school faced this type of problem every year during the time of  monsoon rain .
It was seen that DMC advisors were also moving ahead to check the status of flooded areas in Dimapur. There was no un toward incident happen till of filling this report.
