DIMAPUR, APRIL 6 (MExN): The Dimapur Yachem Bühü Pangthai celebrated the fifth day of the Phom Moonyiü festival with a special programme held on Saturday at its Morung, located at the residence of former Minister S. Pangnyu Phom in Eralibill Village, Dimapur.
The event was hosted by Gazetted Officers of Yachem currently residing in Dimapur and drew participation from community members and well-wishers.
S. Yongchang Phom, Director of Agriculture, Nagaland, Kohima, attended the celebration as the special guest and urged the gathering to uphold the values of unity, hospitality, and service for the collective progress of society. He also encouraged the younger generation to carry forward the legacy of their elders with vigilance and confidence to bring about holistic change.
The programme began with an invocation prayer by Y. Konnyei, Home Evangelist, PBAD, followed by a welcome address from Yachem Bühü Pangthai President O. Yanger Phom. C. Hamba Nemdakly spoke on the significance of the Moonyiü festival.
Cultural highlights included a modern folk song by Dimapur Yachem Anüti Lunglak and a dramatic performance on Ajibangkhüm, the origin of the Moonyiü festival, presented by the Dimapur Yachem Students’ Union. The programme was chaired by O. Hamshong and Enyuh, and concluded with a prayer by M. Nyeiphen, Fellowship incharge. The event wrapped up with indigenous games and a traditional Moonyiü feast.
