Dimasa woman org condemns

Dhansiripar, February 22 (MExN): The Dimasa Welfare Women Organisation (DWWO), Nagaland has condemned two recent incidents in which two person were allegedly assaulted and a private bus was damaged.

In a press release, the DWWO informed that on February 21 at around 9 pm, Udil Haflongbar the village council chairman (VCC) of Manglamukh village and his wife were allegedly “beaten up by a group of youths belonging to Daniel Village without any rhyme and reason.”

The organisation also condemned another incident in which a private bus belonging to Darjen Phonglo, the VCC of Doyapur village, was damaged by some unscrupulous persons on the February 20 at around 2 pm.

“Such barbaric incidents have recently become the order of the days ever since the election campaigns have started. The people of the area particularly the Dimasa Kacharis have been subjected to constant threatening and intimidation by the neighbouring village youths,” the DWWO release maintained.

“This clearly shows that these youths have been hired to create fear psychosis among the innocent people for political gain of their masters,” it alleged.

Accordingly, the organisation appealed all right thinking citizens to condemn such acts meted out to the minority community.

NDPP Minority Committee
Meanwhile, the Nationalist Democratic Progressive Party (NDPP)Minority Committee has also expressed shock over the reported assault of Haflongbar and his wife as well as damage of the public transport bus owned by Phonglo.

“It is very disheartening to see that even in today’s day and age there are sections of people who still believe in trying to create a fear psychosis among the minority communities by threatening and intimidating them,” the Committee stated in a press release.

Accordingly, the Committee therefore urged upon the minority communities in particular and all the right thinking masses in general to condemn such incidents and not to “side with any group/parties that stoop to such lowly measures and take firm decisions while exercising their precious voting rights.”
