Dimapur, August 14 (MExN): The NSCN-K (Yung-Aung) has claimed responsibility for an alleged tactical strike on an Assam Rifles post at Tikhak Taipi village near Longvi in Changlang district of Arunachal Pradesh.
In a statement issued by its Ministry of Information and Publicity on Friday, the group claimed that its Naga Army tactical unit attacked the 21 Assam Rifles post at around 3 am.
It claimed the gun battle lasted for about 45 minutes.
The group said the security forces subsequently imposed a “total lockdown” in the area and claimed that the exact number of casualties among the security personnel could not be confirmed.
It further claimed that heavily armed reinforcements, backed by aerial drone surveillance, had been deployed in the area following the incident, prompting its unit to withdraw.
The NSCN-K (YA) described the alleged strike as a “direct and necessary action” against what it termed the continued domination of the Naga people and reiterated its demand for what it described as the right of the Naga people to live with dignity and freedom.
The group also claimed that its military operations against security forces would continue and intensify until its stated objective was achieved.
