DNSU to monitor attendance at Dimapur govt offices
Dimapur, August 25 (MExN): The Dimapur Naga Students’ Union (DNSU) has appealed to government departments, public institutions and offices in Dimapur to maintain regular attendance and adhere to prescribed official working hours.
In a statement issued through its Media Cell, the DNSU said it had received public feedback regarding instances of delayed attendance, early departure and the unavailability of officials during office hours.
"Such practices can affect the timely delivery of public services and cause inconvenience to citizens, students, and visitors," the union said. The DNSU stated that, in the interest of efficient administration and improved public service delivery, it would undertake periodic visits to government offices, educational institutions and other public establishments within its jurisdiction.
The visits, it said, would be aimed at understanding the functioning of the institutions and gathering public feedback. The union urged heads of departments and staff to remain at their designated stations during official working hours, follow prescribed office timings and attendance procedures, and ensure citizens receive timely assistance and necessary information.
It also asked officials to properly communicate any official leave, field duty or authorised absence, while maintaining "professionalism, accountability, and courtesy" in their dealings with the public. The DNSU said regular monitoring and constructive cooperation could strengthen public administration and improve services.
"Any concerns observed during such visits will be communicated appropriately to the concerned authorities for necessary consideration," it stated. The union requested all departments and institutions to extend their cooperation in the public interest.
