DRSU, CAKSU support DNSU’s stand; Urge unity to protect indigenous identity

Dimapur, April 25 (MExN): Two student organisations in Nagaland have expressed support for the Dimapur Naga Students’ Union (DNSU) over its stand in a case involving the alleged fraudulent issuance of an Indigenous Inhabitant Certificate, while also lauding the district administration for cancelling the document.

DRSU: The Dimapur Rengma Students Union (DRSU) conveyed its appreciation to the DNSU for what it described as steadfast commitment in safeguarding and upholding the indigenous identity and rights of the Naga people. It said the efforts demonstrated by the DNSU in the matter set a positive example of responsible leadership.

The union also extended gratitude to the Dimapur district administration, led by the Deputy Commissioner, for its decisive action in cancelling the fraudulent indigenous certificate issued in the name of Nirmal Jain.

Appealing to the public, the DRSU urged all Nagas to remain aware, united and proactive in safeguarding their identity, rights and heritage. It stressed the need to uphold the rule of law and work collectively to ensure that these rights are protected for future generations.

CAKSU: The Chakhro Angami Kuda Students’ Union (CAKSU) appreciated the DNSU for its firm stand and timely intervention in addressing the issue. It acknowledged the consistent efforts of the DNSU in ensuring that the concerns of the Naga community are upheld with integrity and responsibility.

The CAKSU also placed on record its appreciation to the Dimapur district administration for cancelling the certificate, stating that such measures reaffirm the importance of accountability and due process in matters affecting indigenous identity and rights.

Further, the union extended its support to the DNSU’s decision to pursue legal action by filing a First Information Report (FIR), maintaining that any act involving misrepresentation or forgery must be thoroughly investigated and addressed in accordance with the law.

Calling upon the student community and the public to remain alert and united, the CAKSU emphasised that collective responsibility and adherence to the rule of law are essential to effectively address such issues.

The union reiterated its commitment to stand in solidarity with all efforts aimed at protecting the interests and identity of the Naga people.
