EDTC mandates glass enclosures for butcher shops to improve hygiene

DIMAPUR, APRIL 6 (MExN): All butcher shops under the East Dimapur Town Council (EDTC) have been directed to install glass enclosures over their meat display areas by April 19 to meet hygiene and food safety standards.

The directive, issued by Zakabo V. Rotokha, Additional Deputy Commissioner of Dimapur and executive officer of EDTC, warns that failure to comply will result in penalties, including fines and possible closure of non-compliant establishments. It said the new requirement is aimed at ensuring public health and aligning with regulatory standards. Butcher shop owners have been urged to make necessary arrangements without delay.
