ZUNHEBOTO, DECEMBER 28 (MExN): The Satakha Old Students’ Union marked its golden jubilee celebrations under the theme “Honouring the Glorious Past, Envisioning the Promising Future” at Satakha Old Baptist Church on December 27.
Minister of Roads and Bridges, G Kaito Aye, graced the occasion as the special guest.
Addressing the gathering, Aye commended the pioneers who established the Students’ Union, stating that their visionary leadership had enabled the union to reach the milestone.
At the same time, Aye asserted that the progress of a village and society depended largely on education, adding that literacy among children was key to overall development.
“If children are educated, the village will progress,” he maintained.
Likewise, the minister also lauded the Satakha students who have succeeded in various competitive examinations and urged them to continue excelling in different fields while noting that Satakha Old has been among the pioneers, making significant contributions to the Satakha people over the years.
Stressing that mere celebration of 50 years was not sufficient; Aye said there was a need to reflect on the impact and contributions made by the village and the union to Satakha and the wider Sumi community.
“This should be our priority,” he said, calling upon students to give their best for the development of Satakha and further appealed to the people to unite in building a new and progressive Satakha.
Furthermore, he said that Satakha constituency has been a key stakeholder contributing to the welfare of the Sumi and Naga people and called for continued support to preserve its legacy. Aye expressed hope that Satakha Old would continue to remain a prosperous and progressive village.
Emphasising the importance of quality education, the minister urged all citizens to enroll students in Satakha Government Higher Secondary School, stating that the institution has highly qualified and trained teachers, encouraging students to pursue their education within Satakha town.
