Distances itself from FNTA issue
Dimapur, July 15 (MExN): The Eastern Naga National Workers' Organisation (ENNWO), a welfare body of Naga national workers affiliated with various Naga political groups, has reaffirmed that its primary objective remains the pursuit of an early, acceptable and honourable Indo-Naga political solution, while asserting that the Frontier Nagaland Territorial Authority (FNTA) is a matter concerning the Government of India (GoI), the Eastern Nagaland People's Organisation (ENPO) and the Nagaland Government.
In a statement of affirmation issued on Tuesday, the ENNWO said it comprises members from various Naga political groups, with its leadership drawn from communities across Eastern Nagaland. It stated that any official position on political or welfare matters should be communicated through its authorised leadership to ensure proper deliberation and coordination.
The organisation maintained that the ultimate goal of the ENNWO, along with the rest of the Nagas, is to pursue an early, acceptable and honourable Indo-Naga political settlement, describing it as the "utmost priority" for its leaders and members.
On the issue of the FNTA, the ENNWO stated that it is a subject involving the GoI, ENPO and the Nagaland Government. It added that, as an association of Naga national workers affiliated with various Naga political groups, its aspirations should remain aligned with the historical and political rights of all Nagas.
The organisation further asserted that while the Framework Agreement may have had "political inconsistency and deficiency," the Agreed Position signed on November 17, 2017, "gave flesh to the bones." It described both documents as irreversible political agreements and urged the Government of India to honour them "in letter and spirit" to usher in enduring peace in Nagaland and the Northeast.
