‘Every Breath Counts’: Chukitong PHC observes World Pneumonia Day

Wokha, November 12 (MExN): World Pneumonia Day was observed at Chukitong Primary Health Centre Wokha under the theme ‘Every Breath Counts’ on November 12. 

Dr Abenthung Murry, Medical Officer, Chukitong PHC spoke on the importance of creating awareness on pneumonia during COVID-19 pandemic as both the diseases are air borne. Pneumonia lead to inflammation of the lungs by pathogens and it is one of the leading causes of death among children under five years across the globe, he added. He urged the health workers to talk about pneumonia during home visits and VHNDs as it is curable with proper medical treatment. 

Dr Abenthung emphasized on the importance of hand washing and wearing face mask to prevent the spread of pneumonia. 

The programme was attended by Dr Nouneneo MO District Hospital Wokha, Dr Thungdeno MO Ayush, Dr Thungchabeni DPM (Q) and staffs of the health unit.
