Stacked cartons of IMFL confiscated by the Nagaland Excise Department's Narcotic Cell following enforcement drives across Dimapur.
Dimapur, August 24 (MExN): The Narcotic Cell of the Nagaland Excise Department has seized 2,460 bottles and cans of Indian Made Foreign Liquor (IMFL) valued at around Rs 1.95 lakh during enforcement operations conducted across Dimapur in August.
According to the Excise Department, the seizures were made in connection with various liquor detection cases during routine checking, mobile vehicle check posts (MVCPs), and enforcement operations along the interstate Kushiabil four-lane road and highways, as well as other areas in and around Dimapur. The department said the enforcement drive was part of its ongoing efforts to curb the "illegal possession, transportation and sale of liquor." The Narcotic Cell said it has intensified enforcement against the illegal trade and transportation of liquor and other prohibited substances under the Nagaland Liquor Total Prohibition (NLTP) Act, 1989 and the NDPS Act, 1985.
"Regular detection and checking activities will continue in the coming days," the department stated, while warning outlet operators and other defaulters to refrain from illegal activities. It added that the District Excise and Mobile Squad Excise units, headed by their respective Superintendents of Excise, are also carrying out enforcement activities simultaneously.
The Narcotic Cell further appealed to the public to cooperate with Excise authorities and provide information regarding the "illegal transportation, possession and sale of liquor."
