Dimapur, Oct 21 (MExN): Since “we are no more high school students taking part in school debate” Urban Planning Minister Dr Shurhozelie has advised the Congress to have a human approach to the Naga problem. The Minster was reacting to various charges leveled by the Congress on the state’s law and order vis-à-vis factional feud.
“I have never said in my rejoinder that the state government has no role in containing law and order in the state. I have said that the killing among UG factions do not come under law and order subject” Dr Shurhozelie stated adding that if the Congress so desires to interpret the killings as a law and order problem, it is for the Nagas to judge ‘whether those Nagas dying every day are for law and order problem or for political reasons.’
The Minister reminded the congress that “we have been dealing with a human problem”, and for which belonging to different political parties should not be a condition to ignore a “human approach” to the Naga problem. “…we have been dealing with human problem. We may belong to different political parties but we should not forget the human approach to the Naga political problem. I still maintain that the problem among the factions can not be treated as law and order problem – it is a political and human problem which requires political and human approach” Dr Shurhozelie asserted.
