Dimapur, September 29 (MExN): The Chakhesang and Pochury Regions Federal Government Of Nagaland (FGN) have re-affirmed leadership of Retd Gen Thinoselie M Keyho as Naga National Council (NNC) President and Namrikiu as Acting Kedahge of FGN.
The Chakhesang Region in a press release on September 28 termed it unfortunate that “some expelled national workers from the NNC and FGN conducted an unconstitutional meeting” at K Base Village on September 23 and said that it has tendency to mislead and confuse the public both within and outside Chakhesang Region.
Accordingly, it categorically declared that “whatever developments may take in the region at this juncture, the Chakhesang Region Government as ever upholds the Plebiscite of 16th May 1951 and shall continue to defend Naga Sovereignty” under the leadership of Gen (Retd) Thinoselie as NNC President and Namrikiu, as Acting Kedahge of FGN.
In the release Serapra Shijo, Midan Peyu, Chakhesang Region appealed the people “not to be misled or confused by such anti-national elements at any point of time.”
Meanwhile, in a separate release issued on September 28, the Pochury Region informed that it did not send anybody to attend the September 23 “controversial meeting” and whoever attended the meeting did so at their individual capacity and do not represent the region in any form.
“The Pochury Region Government declare that we stand for the 14th August 1947 Naga independence declaration and the Plebiscite of the 16th May 1951,” stated the release issued by Ayon, Midan Peyu, Pochury Region, FGN, affirming the leadership of Gen (Retd) Thinoselie and Namrikiu.
Sumi Region of FGN ‘dissolved’
Meanwhile in a “Dissolution Azha” issued by the Acting Kedahge of FGN, Namrikiu stated that the Sumi Region of FGN under the leadership of Interim Midan Peyu Akavi Chishi is “dissolved indefinitely.”
The failure to carry out the responsibility of Sumi Region establishments under the NNC and FGN as well as joining of hands with “conspirators and anti-national forces by attending and endorsing the unconstitutional meeting” of September 23 at K Basa Village were cited the reasons behind the dissolution. “Henceforth, Sumi Region shall only be reconstituted with the mandate of Sumi people under any circumstance,” stated the Azha issued on September 28.
Angami Regional Council NNC rejects ‘unconstitutional meeting’
The Angami Regional Council (ARC) NNC, meanwhile, has “downrightly opposed and rejected the unconstitutional meeting” at Khulazu Basa village on September 23.
“The Angami Regional Council hereby firmly and strongly support the leadership of NNC President, Gen (Retd) Thinoselie M Keyho, and shall continue to rally round his leadership always,” stated a press release issued by Chosel Angami, President, ARC NNC and Zapuvisie Lhousa, Sessional Secretary.
It must be noted here that in a surprising turn of events, a press release on September 25 informed that Tatar Hoho and the Executive Council of the FGN has “unanimously resolved to withdraw” the support to the leadership of Gen (Retd) Thinoselie as NNC president. In his place, a joint executive meeting held at K Basa village on September 23 has elected Vice President TS Keyho as the new president, added the release issued by the FGN Speaker, Künüchosa Rhakho.
In a rejoinder on September 27 from FGN Killo Kilonser Zaleo denounced the September 23 meeting as “unconstitutional and anti-national” and said it violated the Article 61 of the Yehzabo.
In this connection, it informed that an emergency Tatar Hoho meeting held on September 27 has decided to expel seven persons from NNC/FGN indefinitely, including TS Keyho and Künüchosa, for “committing treason.”
