Fire renders atleast 10 families homeless

Atleast 10 families were rendered homeless in a fire at Churches colony, Dimapur on February 11. The fire reportedly started at around 12:30 am adjacent to the place where a fire occurred in the month of January in which over 10 families were affected.   As per the Fire and Emergency Services, Fire Station Central, Dimapur, immediately responded to the scene after it was alerted of the fire at around 12:52 am. A total of 4 fire tenders, including 2 from the Fire Station West, were pressed into action, alongwith 20 firefighters. One firefighter informed that some 2-3 LPG cylinders also exploded and it took around an hour to control the spread of the fire. Electrical short circuit was suspected to have been the cause.  Some of the affected victims sustained minor burns but there was no report of human casualty. Damage was estimated to be around Rs 10 lakh with vehicles also among the property claimed by the fire.
