
Dimapur, March 22 (MExN): The Assam Rifles while conducting MVCP on March 17 at 4th Mile area recovered one 9MM pistol with four rounds of ammunition from one green coloured Maruti 800 bearing R/No AS0IP/1638. The occupants of the vehicle namely as one ‘ss captain’ Balie Angami of GPRN/NSCN (34 years) and ‘ss captain’ Azo Angami of GPRN/NSCN (34 years) were arrested and produced at the police station. A case has been registered in this connection under the Arms Act, informed the additional superintendent of police/PRO, Dimapur in a press note.
The note also stated that acting on a complaint report received from a citizen of Dimapur about an extortion demand of Rs 30,000 in the name of FGN, ‘ministry of chaplee’ by two unknown miscreants claiming to be members of FGN. The accused who constantly visited the complainant’s house and forcibly demanded money by threatening the family members and causing fear to their lives, personnel of Dimapur Police arrested the two miscreants on March 23 when they were demanding money from the complainants at his residence and seized the demand note, it stated.
In another incident, Dimapur Police recovered an auto rickshaw on March 19 from a garage workshop in Purana Bazaar, which was stolen on December 3, 2010 from Nagaland Gate area by four unknown persons.
The note stated that the passengers after hiring the auto asked the driver to take them towards Aoyimti near the Chathe River where the driver was assaulted after tying his hands and legs with a rope and stole the auto and fled, leaving behind the driver. The auto driver was rescued next morning. The Dimapur police managed to track the stolen auto rickshaw from the workshop when the auto was brought for repairing. In this connection, one accused identified as Phyophio Lotha (34 yeasr) has been arrested and a case registered, it stated.
