Fresh vote demanded in NABA election

Dimapur, August 21 (MExN): The Tuensang District Amateur Boxing Association (TDABA) has urged the Nagaland Olympic Association (NOA) to re-conduct the election of the Nagaland Amateur Boxing Association held on August 9, citing concerns over fairness, transparency and accountability.

In a statement issued on August 21, TDABA said that “allegation of vote manipulation and bias have tarnished the integrity of the election process undermining the trust of athletes, official and fan, so as a citizen of Tuensang, we demand.”

The association called for “independent investigation into the allegation of vote manipulation and biasness” and further appealed for “the transparent electoral process that ensure the integrity of the election.”

“We the TDABA are deeply concerned about the integrity of our sports and the trust of our athletes, we urge NOA bodies to take immediate action to address this allegation and ensure a fair and transparency of election,” it added.

Meanwhile, the Sangtam Union Tuensang Town expressed “deep concern and solidarity” with TDABA, highlighting what it termed the disenfranchisement of the district body during the Nagaland Amateur Boxing Association (NABA) Presidential Election.

The Union noted that despite being invited to the election in Kohima on August 9, 2025, TDABA “were unjustly denied right to cast their vote.” It said “such actions undermine not only the legitimacy and fairness of the process but silence the aspirations of young talents of the district they represent.”

Affirming that every member of any association must enjoy equal rights, the Union stated that this includes “the right to participate fully in the selection/electing of its leadership.”

“The Sangtam Union Tuensang Town stands firm in solidarity with TDABA and anticipates the swift rectification and necessary remedial actions from Nagaland Olympic Association at the earliest,” it added.
