CHÜMOUKEDIMA, APRIL 9 (MExN): The quarter-finals of the Frolic Cup concluded today with four teams advancing to the semi-finals. Khaibung Youth & Students Union (KYSU), Medziphema FC, United Falcon Club (UFC), and Medziphema Village Youth Organization (MVYO) secured their spots in the next round following hard-fought victories.
In the first quarter-final, Arap of KYSU scored a hat-trick to help his team defeat Lomgol FC 3-1. KYSU dominated the first half, with Arap scoring in the 28th minute to give his side the lead. Despite a strong second-half effort from Lomgol, Arap sealed the win with two more goals in the 50th and 70th minutes. Haochon scored for Lomgol in the 65th minute, but it was not enough to mount a comeback.
The second quarter-final saw Medziphema FC outplay Nissi FC with a 4-1 victory. Medziphema’s attacking combination proved to be too much for Nissi, with Kakhevi opening the scoring in the 12th minute. Kanumdi doubled the lead in the 19th, and Toka added another in the 32nd. Nissi managed to pull one back in the 44th minute through Paotinsat, but Kanumdi sealed the win with his second goal in the 63rd minute.
UFC advanced to the semi-finals with a 2-0 win over Maova Youth & Students Union. Vimegolie Kire gave UFC the lead early, scoring in the 5th minute. Keneingulie Kuotsu doubled the advantage in the 25th minute, and despite sustained pressure from MYSU, UFC held firm to secure the victory.
In the final quarter-final, MVYO triumphed over Libra FC 2-1. Neisede gave MVYO a dream start, scoring the fastest goal of the tournament in the 5th minute. Libra FC equalized in the 22nd minute through Alumei, but Thejasetuo Gwirie put MVYO back in the lead in the 26th. Despite Libra’s efforts, MVYO held on to advance.
