GNF pays tribute of Prof Lanunungsang Ao

KOHIMA, APRIL 10 (MExN): The Global Naga Forum (GNF) has expressed profound sadness at the passing of Prof A Lanunungsang Ao and paid tribute to him as “a towering figure in the academic world, a courageous soul with a generous heart, and above all, a true Naga patriot.”

The Sociology Professor and former Pro-Vice Chancellor of Kohima Campus, Nagaland University, passed away on April 9.

In a condolence message, the GNF recalled Prof. Ao’s significant role in shaping Nagaland University during its formative years as Pro Vice Chancellor, stating that his legacy would remain “etched in the history of our land.”

He was not only a distinguished academician but also a celebrated author who dedicated his life to enlightening and empowering the people through his writings and wisdom, the message read.

The GNF noted that Prof. Ao’s contributions to education, literature, and Naga society at large were “immeasurable,” and that his quiet strength and unwavering dedication had inspired generations.

“His absence leaves a void that cannot be filled, but his spirit will live on in the many lives he touched,” it stated, while adding that his legacy would continue to shine “as a beacon of hope and pride for all Nagas.”

The GNF extended its deepest condolences to the bereaved family, praying for strength and comfort during this time of grief, and for the departed soul to rest in eternal peace.
