Guwahati, February 9 (MExN): The Northeast Frontier Railway has made remarkable achievements towards the assigned targets under ‘Go-Green’ mission of the India Railway, an official release informed today.
To this end, Roof-Top Solar power plants have been commissioned throughout NFR generating 4238.233 KWp, saving approximately 43.31 lakh units and around Rs. 3.47 crore per annum in monetary value, it said.
Currently, work is in progress to commission additional 1620 KWp by March, 2022 and that would lead to savings of 16.56 Lakh units amounting to Rs 1.32 crore in monetary value, informed the release from the NFR Chief Public Relations Officer.
The mission is part of Indian Railway endeavours to be self-sufficient for its energy requirements and adopts its process towards utilization of Renewable source of energy, it said.
The Ministry of Railways has also decided to install solar power plants on its vacant unused lands on mega scale and many additional Renewable Energy (RE) projects are in progress which once completed will generate clean & green energy, it informed.
The Railway Energy Management Company Ltd (REMCL) is working relentlessly to spread the use of solar energy on mega scale, the release added.
