Governor to inaugurate central library at International University Nagaland

Chümoukedima, March 28 (MExN): Governor of Nagaland, La. Ganesan will inaugurate the Dr Keshav Baliram Hedgewar Central Library at the International University, Nagaland (formerly The Global Open University, Nagaland), on March 31 at 11 am.
The event will take place at the university’s main campus near 7th Mile, Chümoukedima.

According to the university’s Registrar, Dr Roopam Bachhil, the inauguration coincides with the 136th birth anniversary of Dr Hedgewar and the library aims to provide academic resources for students and researchers, promoting intellectual and professional development.

The university, originally legislated by the Nagaland State Assembly and assented to by the Governor in 2006, underwent a name change through The Global Open University Nagaland (Second Amendment) Act, 2024.

A Gazette Notification was issued to formalise this change, aligning with the institution’s focus on full-time, employment-centric programmes, the university stated in a press release.

As part of its expansion, the university has introduced new courses, including Bachelor’s and Master’s degrees in Naturopathy, Physiotherapy, Medical Laboratory Technology, Radiology and Imaging Technology, and Business Administration, it said.
Additionally, courses in Law and Nursing are under consideration, pending approval from the respective regulatory bodies, it added.

The university has extended invitations to policymakers, academics, media representatives, and other stakeholders to attend the inauguration.
