Altogether 73 regional national workers and official delegates from centre attended the meeting, informed a press note issued by Khawoto Chishi, Caretaker Chairman, Sumi Region, GPRN/NSCN. The meeting unanimously resolved to strengthen the leadership of NSCN Chairman Gen. Khole Konyak and Gen. Secretary N Kitovi Zhimomi pointing out that the Indo-Naga political issue will sooner or later be determined by the two leaders in consultation with the Naga people.
The national workers also resolved to appeal to Sumi frontal organisation and general public to abide by the 15th January 2008 resolution adopted by Sumi people which pledged support to GPRN/NSCN as it was “genuinely striving to bring all Nagas together”.
The meeting resolved that while it is in the interest of all to maintain peace in the Region, the Sumi national workers and the Naga Army shall be “prepared to confront certain elements vitiating the peaceful atmosphere”. The meeting duly noted the aggression of these elements on the morning of 29th July where Tatar Huvito Yeptho, former Sumi region Chairman and his bodyguards, while visiting his family at Alahuto colony was accosted by armed man numbering around 10. According to the press note, the situation was about to go out of hand but the armed men backed off sensing former chairman bodyguards were prepared to confront.
The meeting resolved to encourage the Sumi Frontal organisations to continue to play a pro-active role and control the “gun-toting elements at Zunheboto town as any recurrence of violence in Sumi region would escalate and Sumi people would be the greatest losers”.
