DIMAPUR, JANUARY 17 (MExN): In a proud moment for Nagaland, H Hokato Sema was conferred with the prestigious Arjuna Award for his exceptional achievements in Para-Athletics on Friday.
The award was presented by President Droupadi Murmu in recognition of his remarkable performance in international sports events, particularly his recent successes in the Paralympic Games and the Asian Para Games at the Sports and Adventure Awards 2024 held at the Rashtrapati Bhavan.

Hokato Sema, a para-athlete specializing in Men’s Shot Put F57, made history by winning the bronze medal at the 2024 Paralympic Games held in Paris, France. In addition to his Paralympic success, Sema also clinched a bronze medal in the 2023 Asian Para Games in Hangzhou, China. His hard work, perseverance, and dedication have made him a source of inspiration for countless aspiring athletes, both within India and internationally.
Nagaland Chief Minister Neiphiu Rio expressed his heartfelt congratulations to Sema, recognizing his dedication to excellence in the field of Para-Athletics. “Heartiest congratulations to Mr. H. Hokato Sema on receiving the prestigious #ArjunaAwards for Outstanding Performance in Sports and Games 2024, in Para-Athletics discipline. Thirty-two athletes were honoured with the Arjuna Award, 17 of whom were para-athletes. India’s para-athletes had an outstanding performance at the Paralympic Games, returning with 29 medals, including seven gold, nine silver and 13 bronze.
Other Awards presented by the President include Major Dhyan Chand Khel Ratna Awards-2024; Dronacharya Awards-2024; Tenzing Norgay National Adventure Awards-2023; Rashtriya Khel Protsahan Puruskar-2024; and Maulana Abul Kalam Azad Trophy-2024.
