Head Hunters Jakhama today emerged victorious over Chedema Village YO with a stunning six goals to one in the final match of the 24th Classic Cup 2018 at Kohima Local Ground, Khuochiezie.
Nythong Magh connected the first goal in the early one minute and later netted second goal in the 4th minute.
Head Hunter’s striker Rhitsho Mero contributed the third goal for the team in the 14th minute.
Chingsha, Hranglen and Khuanjang netted the 4th, 5th and 6th goal for Head Hunters in the 45th, 53rd and 89th minute respectively.
A lone goal for Chedema Village YO came through the boot of Salu Kulim in the 18th minute.
Nagaland Football Association president and state commissioner Nagaland Bharat Scouts & Guides P. Atuo Mezhür Sekhose graced the grand finale as guest of honour and gave away prizes to the winners.
Sekhose said, in Nagaland, there are talented players and informed that there is a currently one player in Indian Super League and six players are playing in the Indian Premier League and added that the state is doing much better than bigger states.
However, he regretted that the state could not produce more players due to lack of infrastructure.
" Even after attaining the statehood, we don't have a proper stadium. We cannot let players play on hard surface and expect them to play with those players who play on proper grass turfs, " he said .
Earlier, Dr. Rukulü K. Puro and Menuose-o (Max) Khieya compered the grand finale. Vote of thanks was proposed by tournament director Mezhü-o Marcus Solo.
Organized by Classic Club Kohima with the theme “Live it Up,” 23 teams joined the tournament.
