Phek issues strict safety advisory
Phek, July 21 (MExN): The office of the Phek Deputy Commissioner and District Disaster Management Authority has stated that view of the incessant rainfall experienced across the district, heavy rainfall is expected in lowlands and foothill areas of the district.
There is possibility of water logging, flash floods, landslides and rising water level in rivers and streams due to heavy precipitation in the catchment areas, stated Phek DC Rhosietho Nguori in a public advisory issued on July 21.
As a precautionary measure, the general public has been advised to refrain from venturing out to the river banks for picnic, fishing etc. to avoid any eventualities.
Public have also been asked to report any incidents of landslide, flooding, road blockage or fallen trees to the District Administration at DDMA Phek: 9612991418/ State Emergency Operation Center. a. 0370-2270129/30 and 1070 (Toll free number).
Further, all concerned area administrative Officers, Head of the Departments, Village Disaster Management Authority, Village Council Chairman, Head GB & GBs, Ward Authorities have directed to be on standby to attend any emergencies resulting from natural calamities, disasters, during the current monsoon season.
