Home Guards and Civil Defense begin sports meet

DIMAPUR, NOVEMBER 30 (MExN): The Nagaland Home Guards and Civil Defence Commenced their Professional and sports meet cum Raising Day Celebration with the inaugural function at Central Training Institute, Toluvi Dimapur on November 29.

The Commandant General, Home Guards and Civil Defence, L. Bendang Lemtur declared the meet open in the presence of the Deputy Commandant General Medozhalie Pienyu and all the unit Commanders from different districts. In his inaugural speech he called upon all units to display professionalism and discipline during the weeklong professional and sports meet.  

The Commandant, CTI, Dally Jamir proposed the welcome address and the programme was chaired by Shri Akhu Kath, District Commandant, Dimapur. The oath taking was administered by Shri Vikiho K. Sema, District Commandant, Kohima.  

The professional and sports meet Cum Raising Day Celebration is a weeklong celebration held every year from November 29 to December 6. During the week, the personnel from the 8 Districts of Phek, Wokha, Dimapur, Kohima, Mon, Tuensang, Mokokchung and Zunheboto will participate in different categories of sports and professional items of Management. The professional and sports meet will culminate in the Raising Day i.e. December 6 whereby the Department will celebrate the Home Guards Raising Day along with the rest of the country.
