ICIT Mokokchung hosts AI project showcase

MOKOKCHUNG, MARCH 30 (MExN): The Institute of Communication and Information Technology (ICIT) Mokokchung hosted a Project Showcase and Presentation Program on March 28, marking the conclusion of a two-week Certificate Training Course on “Introduction to Artificial Intelligence.” 

The intensive training, held in collaboration with Intel Corporation India from March 17 to 28, brought together 28 trainees from diverse educational backgrounds across the state.

The course covered key AI concepts, including the evolution of AI, its societal impact, and AI project cycles. Participants engaged in hands-on projects, developing AI-based solutions in areas such as computer vision, natural language processing, and statistical data analysis. Among the projects showcased were an AI-driven system for disease detection on tomato leaves, a chatbot for mental health support, a stock market guide AI assistant, and a face mask detection system. 

Other innovations included an IT expertise chatbot, an AI-powered analysis of Play Store app reviews, a healthy fruit recommendation assistant, a personalized AI beauty advisor, and an AI chatbot designed for football enthusiasts.

The event featured live demonstrations followed by a Q&A session, with Er. N Yibenthung Tungoe, senior lecturer and coordinator of the AI Skilling Program, chairing the program. ICIT Principal Er. Lanusenla Longkumer attended the event along with Intel-certified AI trainers Er. Temjenmeren Longchari, Er. Benjamin Chophy, Er. Neisakienuo Nelly Yhome, and Er. Ngangsham N Chemdok. 

Officials from Intel’s Digital Readiness Program, including Dr. Aswathy Ravikumar, Ambika Saxena, and Hemendra Jasani, participated virtually, while representatives from the Directorate of Technical Education, including Additional Director Tiakaba Amer, Joint Director Er. David Tsela, COE SCTE Er. Khrieketoulie Rupreo, and OSD Vichosunuo Kintso, also joined the program online.

ICIT Mokokchung continues to expand its AI skilling initiatives, offering training in Introduction to AI, Introduction to Machine Learning, and AI for Agriculture, with joint certification by Intel Corporation. The institute has also established an IndiaAI Data Lab, set up by Intel Corporation India. In related developments, ICIT Mokokchung recently concluded a Certificate Course on “AI for Agriculture” at the IndiaAI Data Lab, which ran from January 27 to March 8.
