ICRS Dimapur marks Independence Day at Selas Rehab Centre

Dimapur, August 16 (MExN): The Indian Red Cross Society (IRCS), Dimapur District Branch, observed the 80th Independence Day at Selas Rehab Centre (Female Wing) as part of a programme organised by the District Administration on August 15.

Centre Administrator Nuklu Longkumer and Director Arenla welcomed the IRCS team. A short ceremonial programme was held on the premises to mark the occasion.

IRCS Dimapur District Chairman Chandu Agarwal conveyed Independence Day greetings and urged the inmates to become responsible citizens. He also encouraged them to stay away from drugs and alcohol.

Chief Advisor Capt Hakiye, Honorary Secretary K K Paul, Managing Committee members Lipok Pongen and Kuldeep Jain, and Treasurer Ashok Agarwal also addressed the gathering and extended their greetings. Patron Bajranglal Bucha delivered the vote of thanks.

As part of the programme, the IRCS Dimapur District Branch handed over essential items to the centre, including food grains, milk powder, edible oil, tea leaves, soap, a rice cooker and a pedestal fan.

The centre currently houses 17 inmates in its Female Wing and 37 in its Male Wing near Sunday Bazar. The relief materials were jointly funded by members of the IRCS Dimapur District Managing Committee.

The programme concluded with a message of hope, service and patriotism, informed a press release from the ICRS Dimapur.
