IGAR (N) Raising Day

Dimapur, March 23 (MExN): The Assam Rifles is celebrating its 176th Raising Day on March 24. On the eve of the occasion, Maj Gen Sandeep Singh, AVSM, SM, VSM, IGAR (N) congratulated all officerss, JCOs and ‘jawans’ for their excellent performance in the past, which brought laurels and many achievements to the Assam Rifles.
The Assam Rifles is one of the premier and the oldest Para Military Force of our country. It has a proud record of 176 years of uninterrupted service to the country, particularly in the North East region. The history of this elite Force is synonymous with the history of development in the North East region.
Hailed as “Sentinels of the North East ’’  and “Friends of the Hill People” the Assam Rifles has rendered invaluable service in guarding our North East frontiers, maintaining internal security and carrying out various civic action programs for the welfare of the people in the remote parts of this region. The Force enjoys the complete confidence of the people of the region for its professional competence.
The important role played by the Assam Rifles in counter insurgency operations in the North East region and in creating an atmosphere of security and peace is commendable. He also exhorted all ranks of Assam Rifles to continue to work hard to maintain and keep up the tradition of the Assam Rifles.
Maj Gen Sandeep Singh, AVSM, SM, VSM, IGAR(N) congratulated all the units under IGAR (North) for displaying bravery and professional acumen in performance of their duties to ensure peace and harmony in Nagaland and living up to the reputation of Assam Rifles as “Friends of the Hill People”. This has been stated in a press note issued by the AR today.
