‘Incomplete solution’ if all Naga Political Groups are not included: NNC (Parent Body)

Dimapur, October 6 (MExN):  The Naga National Council (Parent Body) has said that it would be a ‘big mistake’ on the part of the Government of India if it were to settle the Naga political issue “leaving aside three NNC groups and the original NSCN (K) group based in Eastern Nagaland (Saigan division, Burma).”

In a statement on Wednesday, Vice President of the NNC (Parent Body) Zhiongba Yimkhiung said that the “NSCN (IM), NNPGs (led by Kitovi) and recently included NSCN-K (Niki) groups are the only Naga groups that are taken into account” at present. “This will be a big mistake on the part of the Government of India which claims to stand for an honourable, acceptable and inclusive solution (One political solution) for the Nagas,” it added.

Stating that it would be an “incomplete solution,” the NNC (Parent Body) said that the blame and responsibility would be upon the Government of India. It also questioned the State Government and the Naga NGOs who, it said, had given out many statements and resolutions to stand for Naga reconciliation, unity and an inclusive solution. “However in contradiction they are now only mentioning and speaking for NSCN (IM), NNPGs and NSCN (Niki), hence their integrity for a political solution for Nagas as a whole is questionable,” it contended.

It further stated that if the aforementioned Naga National Groups “are left out intentionally then this will never be an honourable, acceptable and inclusive political solution for all the Nagas, rather it will be an incomplete one, and the Naga political movement for freedom will continue for some groups to achieve the rightful political freedom as a people and nation.”
