
Dimapur, March 25 (MExN): All the government departments, government and private institutions (from schools to polytechnics), commercial buildings and any concerned citizens in the state are asked to install fire extinguisher in their respective work places or areas.
The directorate of Fire & Emergency Services, today, issued a circular requesting all institutions and citizens to install the fire deterrent to prevent fire hazards.
A note from the directorate informed that there are three types of fire extinguishers namely foam, CO2 and Dry Chemic Power. The department has recommended for installation the three types of fire extinguishers. The directorate also informed that demonstrations and trainings on the use and handling of the fire extinguishers would be imparted in a number of dates.
The dates are from April 5th to the 8th and April 11 to 12, all from 8:00 am till 11:00 am and again from 12:00 pm to 3:00 pm. The place of demonstration will be in Kohima local ground. Respectively with the stated dates (starting from April 5) the training and demonstrations would be for the government departments of Kohima and Dimapur; then government and private institutions of Kohima and Dimapur districts; then government departments of all districts; then government and private institutions of all other districts. April 11 would be for the commercial buildings/ concerned citizen of Kohima and Dimapur and on the 12th for the commercial buildings/ concerned citizens of all other districts.
All concerned are requested to send their representatives to attend the demonstration. One ‘authority letter’ should be issued to the representative for identification and records, the department said.
The representatives are requested to enter Kohima local ground only through the ‘UBC side.’ In addition, those willing to purchase fire extinguishers are requested to place their orders through demand drafts to the fire personnel during the dates of training or demonstrations or to the SP of Fire & Emergency Services on or before April 11, 2011.
The demand draft is to be made in favor of the Deputy Inspector General, Fire & emergency Services, SBI Lerie, and Code-8306. The fire extinguishers range from 9 liters to 10 kilograms capacities ranging from ` 1, 900 to ` 7,680. Transportation charges would be extra. The directorate said to inform of the date and place for collection of the fire extinguishers.
