Inter District cum Nagaland Open TT C’ship from today

The 23rd Inter District cum Nagaland Open Table Tennis Championship under the aegis of Nagaland Table Tennis Association (NTTA) will start from October 17 at Indoor TT Stadium, Kohima.  

The three-day tourney will commence from at 10: 00 AM with Youth Resources & Sports advisor Er.Zale Neikha as the host.   Briefing media persons here this evening, NTTA vice president Vikuo Metha and general secretary Swelul Pucho said that so far, eight districts have registered for 23rd edition.  

The 23rd edition is expecting 80-100 participants in the categories of singles and doubles men, women, youth and junior (singles)  

The championship is a preparation for the players of the state to participate in higher level of competitions at the regional and national level, Pucho said. The tournament will go on till October 19.  

Meanwhile, the NTTA, which is affiliated to Nagaland Olympic Association and Table Tennis Federation of India, will be sending state tennis players at the forthcoming Ist North East Olympic to be held at Imphal from October 24.   The association also expressed the requirement of the state coach in the discipline Table Tennis in the state.  

Admitting that Table Tennis has bright prospect for Nagas, the association felt that owning state coach will go a long way in taking Table Tennis forward in the state.  

“We are putting our best effort to promote Table Tennis in the state,” said Vikuo Metha.
