Chümoukedima, July 31 (MExN): International University Nagaland (IUN) has announced that it will admit students from Arts, Commerce, and Non-Biology 10+2 streams into its Bachelor of Naturopathy and Yogic Sciences (BNYS) programme for the upcoming academic session commencing next month.
The decision, described as a “progressive move” by the university, is accompanied by a special transitory regulation designed to address the comparatively lower number of Biology-qualified 10+2 passouts in Nagaland, ensuring that local students are not disadvantaged in pursuing careers in naturopathy.
To bridge the academic gap, all newly admitted students from non-biological backgrounds will be required to complete a comprehensive six-month Acclimatisation and Bridge Course before commencing the regular medical curriculum. The intensive programme is designed to equip them with foundational knowledge in biological sciences essential for the rigorous course ahead.
“Education must be adaptable to the regional realities of our students. This bridge course ensures that passion and dedication for traditional and natural healing sciences take precedence over rigid stream barriers,” said Dr Roopam Bachhil, speaking on the initiative.
Prof Zavise Rume, Director of Vocational Education, added, “This special transitory regulation opens unprecedented doors for the youth of Nagaland. We are bridging the gap between diverse academic backgrounds and professional medical practice, empowering our students to excel in the rapidly growing field of naturopathy and yogic sciences.”
Admissions under this special provision are now open for the session commencing next month. Eligible students and guardians have been advised to visit the official university admissions portal or contact the admissions office for detailed guidelines on the enrollment process and bridge course structure.
