Dimapur, Oct 21 (MExN): Nagaland Police has refuted reports that Goa Governor SC Jamir was “ignored” by the state government during his visit to Chozuba, Phek recently, and to this, clarified.
A clarification from the Nagaland Police through its PRO LL, Doungel, IPS, stated: The DIGP (Range) was sent a day in advance on October 18 to Chozuba to coordinate security, protocol in consultations with Phek Deputy Commissioner and Superintendent of Police, all concerned district officials, paramilitary and security forces and programme organizers.
A comprehensive and elaborate security arrangement was then drawn up with provisions for any contingency during the programme. Jamir was accompanied from Kohima by Additional SP Kohima and an official of the district administration as per protocol. (The officials accompanied Jamir throughout his travel to Chozuba and back to Kohima, till his departure for Dimapur, stated the clarification.)
At Chozuba circuit house, Jamir was personally received by Phek DC and SP, DIGP (Range) and IGP (INT). All these officials accompanied the VVIP to the venue and after the programme, Phek DC and SDPO Pfutsero, “saw off” the Governor’s motorcade up to Kohima.
The Nagaland Police has requested that the reports “should not be treated as a wholly representative picture on the issue and the clarification in this rejoinder may also please be suitably noted”.
“However, if perchance the article had inadvertently misinformed any person or persons, party, organization or group, resulting in hurting the sentiments of such person, party or organization, the Nagaland Police sincerely seek their kind indulgence and understanding and wish to assure that there was no breach of protocol nor security for there was no intention whatsoever to snub or show disrespect to our esteemed His Excellency SC Jamir, Governor of Goa nor the high office he holds” the clarification stated.
