Dimapur, January 22 (MExN): The Dimapur Urban Council Chairmen Federation (DUCCF) on January 22 expressed unwavering support and solidarity with the Western Sumi Hoho (WSH), Western Sumi Kukami Hoho (WSKH) and the Western Sumi Youth Front (WSYF) over the ultimatum issued against the NSCN-K (Khango–Hokato) group for the alleged abduction and physical assault of Ato Kukau (village chief) Kiyeto Zhimomi of Vikuho village.
In a press release, the DUCCF described the incident as a “despicable, barbaric and lawless act,” and termed it not merely an attack on an individual but a direct assault on traditional institutions, village authority and the collective dignity of the Naga people.
“Such acts of violence are wholly unacceptable and stand in stark contradiction to the collective aspirations of the Naga people for peace, reconciliation and harmonious coexistence,” it said.
The federation demanded an immediate and impartial investigation into the incident, identification of all those involved and that they are held accountable, with swift and uncompromising justice delivered to the victim.
The DUCCF also expressed solidarity to Zhimomi, the Village Council and citizens of Vikuho village, and reaffirm its commitment to safeguarding the rights, security and dignity of all citizens.
CPO seeks strict action
Meanwhile, the Chakhroma Public Organisation (CPO) on January 21 expressed relief over the release of Zhimomi while strongly condemning alleged abduction in the strongest terms.
In a statement, the CPO termed the incident a “serious violation of law and order and a grave infringement of fundamental human rights” that has no place in a civilised society and pose a direct threat to peace and security.
Calling upon all right-thinking citizens to stand united, the organisation urged them to voice strong condemnation against what it described as a barbaric act.
The CPO also appealed to the law-enforcing agencies to treat the matter with utmost urgency noting that that the release of the victim does not conclude the case.
The authorities must leave no stone unturned in their pursuit of the perpetrators and ensure that those responsible are apprehended to serve justice and prevent recurrence of such incidents in the future.
Expressing solidarity with businessman and his family, the CPO assured support in the collective pursuit of justice and said it would remain vigilant until the rule of law is fully upheld.
