Kohima, August 20 (MExN): As per the National Legal Services Authority (NALSA) common action plan, the Kohima District Legal Services Authority (KDLSA) has conducted an awareness programme on NALSA (MANO NYAY) 2024 and NALSA (Child Friendly Legal Services for Children) Scheme 2024 at Government Higher Secondary School, Tseminyu on August 18.

The programme was chaired by Kekhriengunuo Catherine, Panel Lawyer, KDLSA while welcome address was delivered by Benroli Ezung, Vice Principal of the school.

Berta Tep, Panel Lawyer, KDLSA, spoke on the NALSA Child Friendly Scheme, 2024 highlighting the POCSO Act, Juvenile Justice Act, Child Marriage, Cyber Laws, Right to education, Child Helpline services and the reporting mechanism, emphasizing the child friendly legal protections and support available for children.

Kusalu Lohe, Panel Lawyer, KDLSA, spoke on NALSA (MANO NYAY) 2024, which aims to provide legal services to persons with mental illness and intellectual disabilities.

She also highlighted their rights and the services available under the MANO NYAY/(LSUM) unit for persons requiring legal assistance and support.

An interactive session was held where queries were clarified.

The programme concluded with a closing remark by A. Helokali Aye, PLV, KDLSA.

The programme was attended by approximately 150 students and teachers, along with 3 Panel Lawyers and 1 PLV.
