Knights Group is champions at NEISSR 10th Annual Sports Meet

The 10th Annual Sports Meet of North East India School of Social Work (NEISSR) came to a close on March 29.

DIMAPUR, MARCH 29 (MExN): The 10th Annual Sports Meet of North East India School of Social Work (NEISSR) came to a close on March 29 with a grand closing ceremony held at the Bishop Abraham Memorial Hall. The event marked the culmination of days of competition, athleticism, and camaraderie, bringing together students, faculty, and staff in a celebration of sportsmanship and teamwork.

Key note speaker Rev Fr Lawrence Khing, Vice Principal and Administrator NEISSR, in his address expressed heartfelt gratitude to the student council for their diligent efforts in organizing the event, ensuring its success with meticulous planning and execution. 

He also extended appreciation to the faculty for their unwavering support and encouragement throughout the sports meet.

Acknowledging the collective effort behind the event, Fr Khing emphasized the importance of collaboration and teamwork, not only in sporting activities but also in every aspect of life.

Fr Khing further highlighted the core values that sports instil in students, such as perseverance, resilience, and discipline. He encouraged students to carry these lessons learned on the sports field into their academic and personal lives. “Success does not come overnight. It is the result of consistent hard work, dedication, and an unwavering belief in oneself. The journey of excellence is built on small steps, and every challenge faced is an opportunity to grow,” he remarked.

He also spoke about the significance of balancing academics and extracurricular activities, stressing that involvement in sports helps foster leadership qualities, enhances time management skills, and builds a strong sense of community. Fr Khing encouraged all students to continue pursuing both their academic goals and extracurricular passions, highlighting that such balanced development was key to shaping well-rounded individuals ready to make a positive impact on society.

The highlight of the ceremony was the presentation of certificates to the winners, led by Machin, Assistant Games and Sports Secretary. This was followed by the announcement of the champions, delivered by Yanstusomg, Cultural Secretary of the SCSC. The Knights Group were declared the overall champions, receiving recognition for their exceptional performance and commitment throughout the competition.

Avise, Vice President of the SCSC, delivered the vote of thanks, extending gratitude to all contributors who made the event a resounding success. The ceremony concluded with the NEISSR Anthem, followed by the folding of the NEISSR flag, symbolizing the handover of responsibility for next year’s sports events to the Vice Principal.
