Chümoukedima, April 10 (MExN): Khaibung Youth & Students Union (KYSU) and Medziphema FC secured their spots in the final of the 9th Frolic Cup following hard-fought semi-final victories on Wednesday.

In the first semi-final, KYSU edged past United Falcon Club (UFC) 1-0, with Arap scoring the lone goal in the 26th minute. The forward, who has been in consistent scoring form, capitalized on a chance to put his side ahead.

UFC mounted sustained pressure in the second half, dominating possession and pushing for an equalizer. However, KYSU’s defense held firm, making key clearances and intercepting several threatening moves. A handful of counter-attacks from KYSU also kept UFC cautious in the closing stages.

In the second semi-final, Medziphema FC came from behind to defeat Medziphema Village Youth Organisation (MVYO) 3-1 in a dramatic turnaround.

MVYO took an early lead just 25 seconds into the match through striker Vikholie Chase, marking the fastest goal of the tournament. The early advantage allowed MVYO to control the first half, while Medziphema FC struggled to find rhythm.

However, the tide turned in the second half. Manton headed in the equalizer in the 45th minute, sparking a resurgence. Kanumdi put Medziphema ahead with a long-range strike, and Toka added a third in the 70th minute to seal the win.

The final is scheduled for April 11 at 2:00 PM, with Medziphema FC set to face KYSU.
