And the Naga bloggers reacted...
Keneilhouzo Sekhose: One of the many reasons why mainland guys consider our NE gals as cheap and available! Jokes aside. She owes the Nagas an apology. Make sure she is a Naga or else it is even more serious.
Talisunep M Longkumer: I know that's the point. She just might not be a Naga in which case it is more serious. Most Naga women are decent. Girls like these spoil the reputation of our Naga women and Nagaland. This issue is very public and on National TV so I think it is not just the Naga Students Union Mumbai but the other organizations can take part too in the investigation. As a small minority community we need to protect our image and misuse of our Nagaland name and stand strong together. Tomorrow our daughters, sisters and ladies are going out fresh to study, work in mainland India and as a minority we can’t let them be harassed because of women who act cheap and easy on national TV. Our women are the ones who are going to suffer so it is important that we make an EXAMPLE out of this Cheap Publicity stunt.
Akhrie Angami: If the TV channel or producer objected to that kissing scene they would not have shown it, but it is all in the script and she has acted accordingly. It is just those producers and script writers who wants to portray Nagaland gals as cheap sl*ts. Leave the gal alone and sue the TV channel and producers. And yeah, She deserve a better role(maybe Nagamese film for starter)
Sashi Jamir: Things like suing the channel will give an added advantage for their TV rating, it will be carried in news, magazines, page 3 etc. It will work both side for Naga people, more people will come to know of this TV episode, more people means more defamation of people from "Nagaland". It would work out better if there is some way to sensitise the Naga people in Nagaland and avoiding too much sensationalizing the issue at a national level. The TV episode is long gone & even repeats too.
Yanpvuo Kikon: This issue should not be laid to rest until the TV producers & this lady apologize on National TV and papers. We have absolutely no problem if she had done this without having to PROUDLY represent Nagaland! Let this be a BIG lesson to all Naga boys/girls, studying/working outside of Nagaland! Every single Naga in mainland India is an ambassador of the Naga people. Our mainland Indian brothers always generalize our deeds and tag the whole community along. Any mainlander you meet or interact will have a glimpse of Nagaland through you. So please don’t defame the whole community if u are planning to go whoring around on National Television!! If anyone has the Naga woman Hoho contact number, will you forward it to the NSUM execs. Thank u!
Kaks Chishi: Of course there is no law against kissing but the way she said Nagaland(when she was not even asked) and kissed shows our state and girls in a very bad light. The first important thing is to find out whether she is really a Naga or not. If she is, she needs to know how her actions are harming the reputation of our girls and be more responsible in future. If she is not than we should sue her for sure. No sorry will work for showing our state in bad light. Also like I said before most of these reality shows are scripted and so if the kiss and Nagaland was part of it then have a solid case for defamation against the producer. Of course it will bring some cheap publicity to the show but we cannot let it go away just like that. We need to take a tough stand so that in future any actress or producer will think thousand times before showing our state in poor light and most importantly the reputation and safety of our girls is at stake here.
Longri Kichu: If u see the whole episode, the conclusion part by the host clearly says that Indians (Plain manu) cannot kiss on a first date(not in their tradition) but Nagas can(It is in our tradition/culture)though not directly. So this is not just another Rakhi Sawant show but defamation of a whole race of people.
Vikeduo Linyü: Hello lawyers in Naga blog why don’t we send a notice to the channel to verify the authenticity of this girl. whether she was from Nagaland or was it scripted. If she claims to be from Nagaland, do they have any proof or did she did give any. We can slap them for cheap publicity stunts with a court order.
Anile Mero: Let me have my say here, by virtue of being a member of the fairer sex (although I still don't know why we are called so. That’s another bone of contention whose merits and demerits can be discussed in a new post, if the bloggers are up for it). Now, you say that you are bugged “by the lack of female participation” here. I was also wondering the same too. Only then your bold confession prompted me to say whatever little words I have in mind. If you have seen the NSUD’s newsletter INTERWEAVE and have read (I mean, really READ!) an article regarding lack of women participation in students’ union, then you would have remembered one of its reasons quoted there: intimidation. Yes, we girls are equally flustered as our brothers are too. It's especially in such times when the bells of patriotism ring the loudest. We have also had our own moments of discussions within our secret society rings, although not many of which have been voiced out vocally in a public platform. Why? Because we know people will still brand us floozy. If I could collect coins for every stare thrown our way, I'd be richer than Bill Gates. Please take note, we are not "behaving nonchalantly". We are just helpless to be at the receiving end of the sexist baton that blindly points to us. I'm sure retribution will be delivered, whether early or late, depending upon how quickly and strongly we take effective measures. And this blog can really be a great platform for doing so. Well, it's late for me to say this because the discussions are already going strong thanks to the concern of the Naga bloggers! It has, in fact, been resurrected on the group Wall many more times than a cat with nine lives. Amen!
