If someone accuses somebody that he is a land grabber (although he is not) surely he will not be happy, and would ask explanation from the person wherever he has grabbed land belonging to others. But, whether we like it or not there are habitual land grabbers in Nagaland, the land of Christians. It does not mean that most of these grabbers do not have a place to live. Most of them have several acres of land with costly buildings in several parts of Nagaland. They also possess paddy fields, plantations etc. in several places, but they are never satisfied with all their possessions, because that is cancer of greediness.
Let me take the example of Rangapahar reserved forest belonging to the state Govt, which was full of teak plantation. Govt. had spent crores of money for many years together, nurturing it, but where and in whose hands these Govt properties have vanished? Did it not disappear at the greedy hands of very responsible high ranking people of our land? And all these are Christians…………
About 20 years ago, I went to Diphu,on invitation by a Karbi friend and we went to the jungle, where we had picnic the previous year. But on reaching the spot, we were surprised to find Dimasa peoples, consisting of about 500 families, according to them, who had temporarily settled there since the beginning of that year. We asked them where from they came. We were told that they were chased out of Munglomukh and Hazadisa area by certain Nagas and took their land. These poor people had built temporary huts as shelters. I felt so ashamed hearing the atrocities they faced. Many of the children were suffering from different kind of diseases .Some of the women folk narrated their plight with tears. Oh! What a crime our peoples have committed before God and men. And we say we are Christians…………..
After grabbing somebody’s land, these Christians first of all, construct church building in the best spot to appease God for their crime. On the other side the land owners are crying in pain and poverty, but this side, these so called Christians are singing and praying to God ,shouting Halleluiah, as if God will hear and accept them,…..for as much therefore as your treading is upon the poor, and ye take from him burdens of wheat; ye have built houses of hewn stone, but ye shall not dwell in them; ye have planted pleasant vineyards, but ye shall not drink them….Amos 5:11; Do you think you will escape from the hands of God?
God says, when they fast, I will not hear their cry, when they offer burnt offering and an oblation, I will not accept them; I will consume them by the sword, famine and pestilence….Jer 14:12. Not only you take their land ,but you have shed innocent blood also. Don’t deceive yourself. You will need only 6x2 feet when you die ,even that also is not yours, it is God’s. Be content with all that you have, and let your brothers and sisters live in peace………….………LIVE and LET LIVE!
