WOKHA, MARCH 31 (MExN): The Lotha Baptist Church Diphupar (LBCD) bid farewell to Associate Pastor Rev N Wopansao Ovung, who retired on March 30, after faithfully serving the congregation for 37 years in various capacities.
During the farewell event organized at LBCD, Pastor Rev. Limhathung Lotha praised Rev. Ovung's decades of dedicated and committed service. Highlighting Ovung’s steadfastness and sincerity, Rev. Limhathung emphasized that he faced every challenge with unwavering faith in God. He also extended heartfelt gratitude and appreciation to Rev. Ovung’s wife, commending her humility, patience, and invaluable support to her husband in his spiritual journey and church responsibilities. Additionally, Rev. Limhathung acknowledged the exemplary character of Ovung’s four sons, appreciating their contribution in upholding their father's good name.
Expressing his deep gratitude, Rev. Ovung thanked the church congregation for their love, care, and generosity extended to him and his family throughout his tenure. He particularly appreciated the full sponsorship the church provided to his eldest son to pursue Bachelor of Theology (B.Th) at Jorhat and the generous assistance from individuals and families who supported his son's completion of the Master of Theology (M.Th).
Rev. Ovung further expressed appreciation towards the church, ministerial staff, Board of Deacons, and various church departments for supporting him, particularly during his licensing as Pastor in 2015 and subsequent ordination as Reverend on May 19, 2024. He assured the congregation that he would continuously uphold LBCD in prayer.
The farewell ceremony witnessed a special musical presentation by the LBCD choir. Associate Pastor Rev. Yimtsu Yanthan delivered a sermon, while Women Pastress Yanpvulo J. Ovung led the congregation. The event was attended by church members, family and friends.
