LKM celebrated its foundation day and also conferred the Lt L Pangersowa Trust Award for Academic Excellence at Chuchuyimlang Town Baptist Church jubilee memorial hall on June 21.
Chuchuyimlang, June 23 (MExN): Langpangkong Students’ Conference (LKM) celebrated its foundation day under the theme ‘Clean Election’ at Chuchuyimlang Town Baptist Church jubilee memorial hall on June 21. During the occasion, Lt L Pangersowa Trust Award for Academic Excellence was also conferred to Akummeren Longkumer (Wameken) and Mereninla Pongen (Mongsenyimti), stated an update received here.
The special guest, Dr Yashizungla Yaden, PGT, MGHSS, spoke on how technology and Artificial Intelligence have brought new knowledge, and emphasised the importance of using them wisely. She advocated for the inclusion of vocational skills in education and urged that such knowledge should be promoted by the government.
In the welcome address, Imlinok, President LKM recounted the history of LKM and its founding pioneers- Lt LL Yaden Merangkong, Lt Obangtemjen Chuchyimlang, Lt Imsongto Merangkong and Lt L Pangersowa Jamir Akhoya. The four leaders came together with a shared vision on July 22, 1948, striving for the unity and upliftment of Langpangkong students for a brighter future with a great vision. The Lt L Pangersowa Jamir Trust Award signifies his deep love for students, it stated.
The ‘Clean Election’ campaign, officially introduced by the LKM on July 1, 2017, has yielded significant results, and it is hoped that people mindset will change and will gradually understand its importance.
The Village Council is a “God-ordained authority entrusted with the responsibility of making wise decisions for the welfare of the village.” Especially during elections, they must seek divine guidance to make choices that will benefit future generations, this is the guiding slogan of LKM, Imlinok asserted.
In his word of encouragement, AKM General Secretary, Satemmongba, commended LKM for its role in addressing critical issues, such as school visitation and the shortage of teachers, supporting the LKM Road Coordination Committee for infrastructure inspection of ongoing NH-02 and Foothill road etc, halting illegal taxes, advocate for reservation review through the 5 Tribes Committee. He emphasised the need for both organizations to stand firm and continue working diligently for these vital causes.
The second session featured a ‘Clean Election’ theme prepared speech, with seven finalists competing. Temjenzulu, Akhoya Students' Union secured the first position, followed by Sangtoba, Merangkong Students' Union in second position. The judges were Luen, Associate Pastor CBA, Lanumenla, Teacher at RC Chiden Government High School and Imlirenla, Senior Faculty at NIELIT.
The ‘Clean Election’ theme was addressed by Temjen Longkumer, Pastor of Nukshiyim Baptist Church. The speaker emphasised that Clean Election is aligned with God’s will, reminding that honesty and integrity should govern society. “Without these values, pride, selfishness, and disrespect will prevail. True understanding lies in knowing that standing firm for integrity can never be a loss,” he stated.
The speaker urged both the village councils and students’ unions to stand firm for clean and honest elections and to reject the practice of selling votes.
